🧸 Explaining Big Ideas to Little People
Because Toddlers Are Smarter Than We Think
Toddlers ask wild questions like:
- 🌤️ “Why is the sky so far?”
- 🌈 “Where does the rainbow go?”
- 🍫 “Why can’t we eat only chocolate?”
Their words are small,
but their thoughts?
Gigantic.
🧠 Don’t Water It Down — Make It Tasty
Toddlers aren’t silly. They’re just new here.
So instead of saying “You’re too young to understand,”
try something like:
“The brain is like a sponge — it soaks up everything around it!”
They know what a sponge is.
Now they know how their brain works.
Or,
“Feelings are like bubbles — they come, they pop, and then they’re gone.”
Simple, sweet, and it sticks.
🗣️ Let Them Lead
When they ask “Why?” — don’t panic.
Say:
“Hmm, what do you think?”
Let them wonder. Let them play with ideas.
Because every question is a door.
And you’re holding the key with them — not for them.
✨ Little Brains, Big Dreams
You don’t need to know everything.
You just need to listen, laugh, and love as you explain.
Because complex doesn’t mean complicated.
It just means more chances to explore — together.
💡 Final Thought
You don’t need to have all the answers.
You just need to stay curious with them.
Explain with love.
And trust their tiny minds to do big things with small ideas.
Because toddlers may be small —
but their questions are huge.
And that’s exactly how it should be.
When Tara asked 'Why can't we hold water'? We said, let's try :)
