📏 The Wall of Tapes
A little girl’s way of holding on while letting go.
She’s only two and a half.
Too young to read the calendar.
Too small to understand days and dates and the complicated ways adults count time.
But she knows this:
Mumma is away.
And she misses her.
So, she finds her own way to cope —
A wall.
And some tape.
🧷 One Strip for Each Day
Every morning, right after waking up, she rushes to the wall.
She picks up the tape and the scissors.
She goes to her father and asks him to help her cut a piece of tape.
Sometimes, the tape is not big enough (to reflect how much she is missing mumma), so she says - 'Big!' and we cut another piece.
She presses it gently onto the wall, her little fingers smoothing it down with surprising care.
“One more tape, Papa,” she says, eyes wide with meaning.
“One more day gone.”
What she’s really saying is —
“One day closer to Mumma.”
Each tape is a hug.
A whispered good morning.
A silent countdown filled with longing.
📅 Time Measured in Emotion
While the world keeps time in clocks and calendars,
She keeps time in feelings.
Each strip is a moment —
- Of missing.
- Of hoping.
- Of remembering.
She’s not marking absence.
She’s marking love.
Because to a child, love isn’t measured in how many days you’re there.
It’s in how many times you’re remembered.
And how many little tapes you get to cut and paste.
💗 The Purest Kind of Love
What’s beautiful — and quietly heartbreaking —
Is how children don’t need grand gestures.
They don’t wait for perfect explanations.
They find their own rituals to make sense of the world.
And through those rituals, they show us what love really looks like.
Simple. Patient. Full of faith.
Her wall doesn’t just count days.
It counts resilience.
It counts feelings.
It counts the language of a tiny heart learning to hold on.
🕊️ Final Thought
One day, Mumma will be back.
And that wall?
It will stand — covered in tapes and tiny memories.
Maybe she’ll take them down.
Maybe she won’t.
But long after the tapes are gone,
The story will stay.
A story of a little girl
Who missed her mumma,
And built a wall of waiting —
One piece of love at a time.
Because sometimes, the smallest gestures hold the biggest hearts.
